Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus departed for Doha this evening to attend the Earthna Summit 2025. “A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Chief Adviser and his entourage departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7pm,” Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad informed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam highlighted that Prof Yunus will have a packed schedule during his visit to Qatar on April 22 and April 23. The Chief Adviser is on a four-day official visit at the invitation of Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.
During the visit, Prof Yunus is expected to meet with the Amir of Qatar and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed, alongside other engagements. The schedule includes meetings with Qatar Charity and Qatar Foundation, as well as an interview with Al Jazeera.
Given Bangladesh’s long-term agreement with Qatar on LNG imports, discussions on greater energy sector cooperation are anticipated. An investment summit is scheduled on April 23, and Prof Yunus will address a conference on the Rohingya issue with participation from global stakeholders.
Accompanying the Chief Adviser are Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, and Principal Coordinator on SDG Affairs Lamiya Morshed. Prof Yunus is expected to return home in the early hours of April 25.
