Dhaka: Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus has extended his greetings to the Buddhist community in the country and worldwide on the occasion of Shubho Probarona Purnima and Kathin Chibar Dana, a significant religious festival for the community. In his message, Prof. Yunus highlighted the teachings of the great Gautama Buddha, who dedicated his life to promoting non-violence, equality, and friendship to foster peace in society.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof. Yunus emphasized that Buddha’s primary goal was to create an ideal society rooted in peace and harmony. He noted that Buddha’s ideals continue to illuminate the path of humanity and sacrifice. The Chief Adviser remarked on the enduring relevance of Buddha’s teachings, which focus on non-violence and compassion for all living beings, and their potential to address the current global instability and contribute to lasting world peace.

Prof. Yunus also underscored the historical connection between Buddhism and Bangladesh, recalling that the country was once a thriving hub of Buddhist culture. He pointed out that the ancient Buddhist monasteries scattered across various regions of Bangladesh are a testament to the country’s rich Buddhist heritage.

Furthermore, Prof. Yunus referred to the tradition of communal harmony in Bangladesh, where people of different religions, castes, and communities have coexisted peacefully for centuries. He expressed his belief in the collective contributions of all citizens, regardless of their background, to the nation’s achievements.

He expressed hope that the communal harmony and tolerance among the people of Bangladesh, especially following the July Uprising, would be strengthened. Prof. Yunus envisioned a future where the journey towards building a non-discriminatory, just, and humane state, enriched with human values, would be more robust and successful through the collective efforts of all citizens.

In conclusion, the Chief Adviser wished for the overall success of the Kathin Chibar Dana and Shubho Probarona Purnima celebrations.
