DINAJPUR: An easy bike driver was killed, and two passengers were injured when a bus collided with their vehicle at Chuniapara in Sadar upazila. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about road safety in the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased, identified as Sourav Hemrom, 40, was a resident of the Kasba area in Sadar upazila. The collision occurred when a bus operated by ‘Hanif Paribahan’ struck the easy bike from behind on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway at approximately 2:30 p.m., according to M Motiur Rahman, the officer-in-charge of Sadar Kotwali police station.
The impact left the driver, Sourav Hemrom, and his two passengers injured. They were promptly transported to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital, where Sourav Hemrom later succumbed to his injuries. The condition of the two passengers remains undisclosed at this time.
The incident highlights the dangers faced by drivers and passengers on highways, where heavy vehicle traffic and varying speeds often contribute to accidents. Local authorities have yet to disclose whether any measures will be taken in response to this tragic event.
