BNP Secures 14 Seats in Rangpur Division as 13th Jatiya Sangsad Elections Conclude

Rangpur: In the recently concluded 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections held on Thursday, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) emerged as a significant contender by securing 14 seats out of a total of 33 in the Rangpur division. The 11-party alliance claimed 18 seats, while an independent candidate won one seat.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rangpur Regional Election Officer Md Delwar Hossain confirmed that BNP candidates achieved victories in multiple districts, including two seats in Panchagarh, three in Thakurgaon, five in Dinajpur, three in Lalmonirhat, and one seat in Gaibandha. The specific constituencies won by BNP include Panchagarh-1, Panchagarh-2, Thakurgaon-1, Thakurgaon-2, Thakurgaon-3, Dinajpur-1, Dinajpur-2, Dinajpur-3, Dinajpur-4, Dinajpur-6, Lalmonirhat-1, Lalmonirhat-2, Lalmonirhat-3, and Gaibandha-3.



Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidates, part of the 11-party alliance, secured 16 seats, with the remaining two seats going to the NCP within the alliance. The seats won by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami included Nilphamari-1, Nilphamari-2, Nilphamari-3, Nilphamari-4, Rangpur-1, Rangpur-2, Rangpur-3, Rangpur-5, Rangpur-6, Kurigram-1, Kurigram-3, Kurigram-4, Gaibandha-1, Gaibandha-2, Gaibandha-3, and Gaibandha-5. NCP candidates won the Rangpur-4 and Kurigram-2 seats.



The independent candidate, AZM Rezwanul Haque, claimed victory in the Dinajpur-5 seat. The electoral results in key constituencies highlighted BNP’s vigorous competition with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the NCP candidates, as evidenced by significant vote margins in several areas.



Rangpur Regional Election Officer Md Delwar Hossain remarked on the successful completion of the election process, stating, “We have sent the results to the Election Commission.” This election outcome reflects a dynamic political landscape in the Rangpur division, with various parties demonstrating regional strengths.
