Chattogram: BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury announced plans to develop Chattogram as a regional logistics hub if elected to power, leveraging the potential of the city's seaport, airport, maritime territory, and coastal belts. Amir Khasru, the BNP candidate for the Ctg-11 (Bandar-Patenga) constituency, made these remarks during a press conference at the end of his election campaign, where he highlighted his 'Eleven for Eleven' pre-election promises and discussed the upcoming February 12 polls.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the press conference was held at Amir Khasru's Mehdibagh residence, where he elaborated on his eleven election pledges for the Ctg-11 constituency. He emphasized that his promises are pragmatic programs based on the constituents' needs, and he is committed to fulfilling them. Amir Khasru also expressed confidence that the people of Bangladesh will continue to trust BNP to rebuild the country's future, as they have during critical periods in the past.
He asserted that BNP's victory appears evident in this transitional period, highlighting the party's historical capability to overcome crises. He urged vigilance against any attempts to manipulate the election or seize power through undemocratic means, citing suspicious activities circulating on social media as potential threats.
Khasru's 'Eleven for Eleven' promises include the establishment of a 1,200-bed public hospital, comprehensive youth development programs, a zero-tolerance policy on law and order, and solutions to issues like safe drinking water, traffic congestion, and pollution. Additional pledges involve constructing sustainable road infrastructure, modernizing the port, digitalizing citizen services, and transforming Chattogram into a modern metropolis in coordination with public and private sectors.
The event was attended by members of the BNP's International Affairs Sub-Committee, including Israfil Khasru, city BNP Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman, former city unit secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar, former vice president M A Aziz, joint convener SM Saiful Alam, and former CCC ward councillor Shah Alam.
