Dhaka: The 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) took place today at the BGMEA Complex in the capital’s Uttara area. The meeting was presided over by BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan, with the participation of the current Board of Directors, including Vice Presidents, Directors, former Vice Presidents and Directors, members of various Standing Committees, and general members of the Association.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting approved the audited financial statements for the fiscal year 2023-2024, and the budget for the fiscal year 2024-2025 was both presented and approved. An auditor was appointed for the fiscal year 2024-2025, as stated in a press release. In his remarks, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan addressed the current state of the apparel industry, initiatives undertaken by his Board in the past three months, and future action plans.
BGMEA Vice President (Finance) Mizanur Rahman presented the financial report for the fiscal year 2023-2024 and the budget for the new fiscal year. The meeting emphasized a collective commitment to tackling industry challenges through united efforts.
This AGM was initially scheduled for the fiscal year 2023-2024 by the previous Board. However, due to their incomplete tenure and the Association being managed by a government-appointed administrator for around eight months, the meeting was delayed. Upon assuming responsibility, the current Board prioritized arranging this meeting promptly to demonstrate transparency and accountability to the members.
