BGB Seizes Drugs and Indian Goods Worth Taka Three Lakh in Satkhira

Satkhira: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have conducted special anti-smuggling drives, resulting in the seizure of Indian goods and drugs valued at approximately Taka three lakh from various frontier areas of the district.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the goods were confiscated from the Bhomra, Gazipur, Toluigacha, Jhaudanga, Kakdanga, and Madra Border Out Posts (BOPs) located in Satkhira Sadar and Kalaroa upazilas throughout the day. BGB officials reported these findings after the operations.



Acting on a tip-off, a special operation team from the Bhomra BOP in Sadar upazila seized Indian sarees valued at Taka 30,000 at Lakmidari. Concurrently, another team from Gazipur BOP confiscated Indian medicines worth Taka 70,000 at Bostaner Gher.



In a separate operation, the Toluigacha BOP team seized Indian three-piece garments worth Taka 25,000 from the Charabari area. Meanwhile, the Madra BOP team under Kalaroa upazila seized 500 packets of Indian Anagra tablets valued at Taka 75,000 from Shaswan Ghat area.



Additionally, the Jhaudanga Special Camp team confiscated Indian cosmetics and food items worth Taka 29,750 from Charabari area. Two separate special operation teams from Kakdanga BOP seized Indian sarees and Burqas worth Taka 75,000 from Bhadiyali and Keragachi areas.



Despite the successful seizures, the smugglers managed to escape upon sensing the presence of BGB personnel, as confirmed by Lt Col Md Ashraful Haque, commander of the 33 BGB Battalion in Satkhira. The process of depositing the seized goods to the Satkhira Customs is currently underway.
