BGB seizes 14.778 kgs of crystal meth, 3.9 lakh Yaba tablets from Cox’s Bazar

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 14.778 kgs of crystal meth ice, 3.9 lakh pieces of Yaba tablet and arrested three drug peddlers, including two Myanmar nationals, in separate operations in Teknaf and Rejupara border area.

According to a BGB press release, acting on tip-off, a team of the force conducted a drive at zero point area of Naf River and arrested two persons along with 7.382 kgs of crystal meth ice and 30,000 pieces of Yaba pill.

The arrested were Md Robi Molla, 23, son of Abdul Salam and Md Ayaz, 25, son of Abul Kalam, both hailed from Prampur village under Mangdu Police Station of Buchidang district of Myanmar.

In another raid, BGB's Cox's Bazar Battalion (34 BGB) patrol team recovered 7.396 kgs of crystal meth ice in an abandoned condition in Footerjhiri area under Ghumdhum border in Naikshyongchari upazila of Bandarban.

BGB's Teknaf Battalion (BGB-2) conducted a drive at Sabrang BOP area of South Noapara and seized 50,000 pieces of Yaba tablet.

The patrol team of Nazirpara BOP under Teknaf Battalion conducted a drive at Keora Garden area of Naf River seized 2,00,000 pieces of Yaba tablet from two plastic bags hidden under the deck of a boat.

Teknaf BOP under Teknaf Battalion conducted a drive this morning at Naghtonpara Tolar Ghat area and seized 1.10 lakh pieces of Yaba tablet and arrested a drug peddler.

He is identified as Md. Zahid Hossain, 22, son of Amir Hossain from Nightongpara village under Teknaf police station of Cox's Bazar district.

Legal process was underway against the two Myanmar nationals and a Bangladeshi citizen, said the BGB press release.
