Rajshahi: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is maintaining heightened alertness against the smuggling of Eid-centric rawhide and illegal push-ins along the border, alongside other law enforcement activities in the district. “We have enhanced surveillance and patrolling along the frontier areas to resist push-in strictly,” Lt Col Hasibul Haque, Commanding Officer of BGB-1 Battalion, stated during a press conference at the Battalion Headquarter.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Lt Col Haque emphasized that no incidents of push-in have been reported through the Rajshahi border. He highlighted the collaborative efforts of BGB and local residents in reinforcing patrolling and intelligence surveillance to prevent all forms of trafficking and smuggling.

The Commanding Officer detailed the presence of a 76-kilometer frontline, supported by 16 border outposts and one check-post in the district, with an additional check-post being operated jointly. He mentioned that patrolling has been increased at all critical points to counter illegal activities.

Lt Col Haque also mentioned that BGB members are on high alert to prevent the smuggling of rawhides of sacrificial animals following Eid-ul-Azha. He assured that there are sufficient domestic animals available for sacrifice, meeting the demands, and affirmed the commitment to preventing animal intrusions from neighboring countries.

BGB members are also actively involved in law enforcement to ensure that the general public can celebrate Eid peacefully during the extended Eid vacation.
