Dhaka:The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced an increase in Jet A-1 aviation fuel prices for both domestic and international flights, effective from Thursday.

According to United News of Bangladesh, for domestic flights, the price has been raised to Tk 182.71 per litre, including duties and VAT, from the previous rate of Tk 165.65 in September. For international flights operated by domestic and foreign airlines, the new price is set at US$1.1882 per litre, excluding duties and VAT, up from $1.0770.

The commission made these adjustments after evaluating the average Platts Rate for Jet A-1 fuel from September 5 to October 4, alongside the US dollar exchange rate used by Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) for LC settlements.

BERC initially set the prices for Jet A-1 fuel on May 13, 2025, after a public hearing and analysis of submissions from BPC and Padma Oil Company Ltd. Since then, the commission has been making monthly adjustments based on international market trends as reported by Platts.

Adjustments take into account the previous month's average Platts Rate, the exchange rate applied in BPC's LC settlements, and any changes in transportation costs due to fluctuations in diesel prices.

A committee formed by BERC on May 25, 2025, recommended the new pricing after reviewing relevant market and exchange rate data. Following a hearing on the committee's report on Wednesday, BERC approved the revised rates. The new pricing order has been uploaded to the BERC website, with the complete order to be made available later.
