BCB announces dates for Ireland’s Bangladesh 2023 tour

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the dates for Ireland's tour of Bangladesh, which is set to take place in March and April this year.

This will be Ireland's first full series in Bangladesh and will consist of three ODIs, three T20s, and one Test match.

Ireland last played a three-match ODI series against the hosts in Dhaka in 2008.

The upcoming tour will also mark Ireland's return to the longer format of the game after three-and-a-half years, and will also be the first meeting between the two teams in a Test match.

The tour is set to begin in Sylhet with the ODI series, followed by T20s in Chattogram, and a Test in Dhaka.

BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said: "Ireland's Bangladesh visit is another exciting event in our home season after the series against India and England. The BCB and Cricket Ireland have a cordial and strong relationship and the two boards have worked very closely to arrange this bilateral tour despite the challenges of a busy international calendar."

Warren Deutrom, chief executive of Cricket Ireland, hoped that the tour would be "a great on-field rivalry.

The Test match will be a "challenging experience in Asian conditions for our squad, but it will be invaluable to our players' development knowing that we will be playing a great deal of cricket in Asia over coming years," he said.

Ireland will arrive in Dhaka on March 12 and play a warm-up match. This will be followed by a three-match ODI series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from March 18 to 23.

The T20 series will take place at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium in Chattogram from March 27 to 31.

Finally, Ireland will play a Test match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, starting April 4.
