Dhaka:The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has recommended the approval of two proposals to purchase six liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes from BP Singapore Pte Limited and Qatar Energy Trading LLC. The proposals were discussed during the 51st meeting of 2026, chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, which was conducted virtually on Saturday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division submitted two proposals to the committee. The first proposal involves purchasing five LNG cargoes from BP Singapore Pte Limited through the direct procurement method, as specified under Section 68 of the Public Procurement Act, 2006, and Rule 99(2) of the Public Procurement Rules, 2025. The proposed price for these cargoes is JKM minus USD 0.17 per MMBtu, with BP Singapore Pte Limited as the recommended bidder. The proposal also includes provisions for acquiring additional cargoes if necessary, with mutual consent from both parties.
The second proposal recommends the purchase of one additional LNG cargo from Qatar Energy Trading LLC on a government-to-government (G2G) basis, under an existing long-term contract. This cargo is scheduled for December 20, 2026, and would be acquired at a price different from that specified in the contract, proposed at JKM minus USD 0.10 per MMBtu, with Qatar Energy Trading LLC as the recommended bidder.
