Antigua: Experienced batter Mominul Haque led the charge by batting resolutely as Bangladesh reached 105-3 at lunch on Day 3 of the first cricket Test against West Indies at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh began the day at 40-2 and lost only Shahadat Hossain Dipu in the morning session. At the first interval of the day, Mominul was batting on 38 from 98 balls with Liton Das on 21. Bangladesh trails by 345 runs, an uphill task against a confident West Indies side.

On Day 2, West Indies had set a formidable target by declaring their first innings at 450-9, highlighted by Justin Greaves scoring his maiden century. Shahadat and Mominul demonstrated significant patience in the first hour of the morning session, facing a challenging West Indies pace attack.

Fast bowler Kemar Roach was rewarded for his persistent bowling efforts when he broke Shahadat’s defense. Shahadat was dismissed for 18 after getting an outside edge, adding just eight runs to
his overnight total. This dismissal ended a 45-run partnership between Shahadat and Mominul.

Liton Das joined Mominul at the crease and appeared eager to accelerate the innings. Liton faced several close calls but managed to remain unbeaten, heading into the lunch break.
