Muscat: Bangladesh national U-21 hockey team is set to kick off their Men’s Junior Asia Cup campaign by facing host Oman in their opening pool B match scheduled for tomorrow in Muscat, Oman. This highly anticipated encounter marks the beginning of the eleventh edition of the Junior Asia Cup, a tournament that will run until December 4 and see ten teams, divided into two groups, vying for the prestigious title.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tournament holds significant stakes as the top six teams will earn qualification for next year’s Hockey Junior World Cup. Bangladesh finds itself in Pool B, competing alongside teams from Pakistan, Malaysia, host Oman, and China. The team is scheduled to play its second group match against Pakistan on November 28, followed by a match against Malaysia on November 30, and will conclude the pool stage with a game against China on December 1.

The Bangladesh junior hockey team’s journey to the Junior Asia Cup was marked by a thrilling victory in the qualifiers,
where they secured their spot by emerging as champions. The team clinched a narrow 7-6 victory over hosts Oman in the final held in January, setting the stage for their current campaign.
