Bangladesh Embassy in Hanoi Observes Genocide Day with Solemnity

Hanoi: The Bangladesh Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam, observed Genocide Day with due solemnity, reflecting on the tragic events of March 25, 1971. The embassy organized a discussion to remember the martyrs of the harrowing night, held in the auditorium of the mission. The observance included a moment of silence to honor the fallen.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ambassador Mohammad Lutfor Rahman presided over the program, which featured a sequence of memorial activities. Following the discussion, attendees participated in a candle lighting ceremony and special prayers, seeking eternal peace for the souls of the martyrs from the 1971 Liberation War.



In his address, Ambassador Lutfor Rahman paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives on March 25, including the national four leaders, freedom fighters, and organizers of the liberation war. He emphasized their contributions, which paved the way for the nation to achieve its red-green flag symbolizing freedom. The ambassador also remarked on the gravity of the genocide perpetrated by Pakistani occupation forces during ‘Operation Searchlight’, noting its place as one of the world’s most horrific genocides.
