Chattogram: Chattogram District Police have detained an alleged arms trader and recovered both local and foreign-made weapons, ammunition, tools, and a large amount of cash from his possession during a raid in Barumchhara area under Anwara upazila of the district today. The detainee was identified as Md Abdul Majid, son of the late Haji Muslim Ahmad Chowdhury of Barumchhara in the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mohammad Russell, additional superintendent of Chattogram District Police, stated that based on secret information, a police team led by Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Monir Hossain of Anwara thana conducted the raid at Abdul Majid's residence early in the morning. The operation resulted in the recovery of the arms, ammunition, and Tk 365,000 in cash from his possession.
During the primary interrogation, Md Abdul Majid confessed to his involvement in illegal arms trading for a long time.
