Sylhet: Sylhet captain Amite Hasan continued his rich vein of form by hitting another half-century, but Rajshahi made it sure they will be on top by taking an 84-run lead on Day two of the seventh and last round match of the National Cricket League (NCL) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium today. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sylhet resumed the day at 49-2 and were bowled out for 212, conceding a 14-run first innings lead after Rajshahi were dismissed for 226 in its first innings. Despite Sylhet's efforts, Rajshahi managed to reach 70-3 at stumps, extending their lead to 84 runs. Opener Pinak Ghosh offered Sylhet a promising start with a score of 58, yet it was Amite Hasan's steady 53 that stood out, though support from other teammates like Naim Hossain Sakib, who scored 30, fell short of expectations. Nihad Uz Zaman was instrumental for Rajshahi, taking 4-61 to secure the first innings lead. Rajshahi's innings began with a solid 62-run opening stand between Habibur Rahman Sohan and SM Meherob, b ut they quickly lost three wickets for just eight runs, including the two openers. At the end of the day, Nihad uz Zaman and Shakhir Hossain Shuvo remained at the crease with 1 and 0 runs, respectively, setting the stage for an intriguing contest on the following day.
