Sirajganj:Amirul Islam Khan Alim, Member of Parliament for Sirajganj-5, has called for measures to rejuvenate the nation's handloom industry. According to United News of Bangladesh, the call was made during an exchange meeting organized by the Tamai Handloom and Powerloom Owners' Association at Tamai Satrang Shopping Complex. The meeting aimed to enhance unity and safeguard the rights of weavers in the handloom-rich areas of Chauhali, Enayetpur, and Belkuchi. The meeting, chaired by Solaiman Hossain Molla, president of the association, featured Amirul Islam Khan as the chief guest. He emphasized the importance of reviving the handloom sector and mentioned that various plans would be formulated to achieve this objective. He highlighted the region's rich heritage in the handloom trade and indicated that efforts would be made to improve conditions for loom owners. This initiative aims to secure both owners and workers from financial setbacks and to preserve the region's cultural identity and economic interest s. Additional speakers at the meeting included Baidyanath Roy, general secretary of the Tamai Handloom and Powerloom Owners' Association, Gafur Khan, joint general secretary, along with BNP leaders Boni Amin, Atiqul Islam Mallick, and Ohidul Islam Khan.
