Dinajpur: Aman cultivation has exceeded its target in the district for the current season, with farmers cultivating the crop on an increased area of land to achieve a promising bumper yield, thanks to favorable weather conditions.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) had initially set the target for Aman paddy cultivation at 2,60,860 hectares of land. However, due to favorable weather, farmers have expanded cultivation to an additional 5,050 hectares.

As a result, the DAE is optimistic that the production target of 8,74,951 tonnes will be surpassed this season, with a projected production of around 900,000 tonnes of Aman paddy. Afzal Hossain, Deputy Director of the DAE in Dinajpur, mentioned that although rainfall was less in the early phase, rain from early August enabled farmers to cultivate Aman on highlands.

Farmers reported no issues with the cultivation process, noting that the planting of Aman paddy seedlings was carried out smoothly from July 6 to August 15.
