Dhaka: A Qulkhwani and doa mahfil was held seeking eternal peace for the soul of Mahmud Ullah, an eminent educationist and father of Dr. Shah Muhammad Aman Ullah, a member of the Board of Directors of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation. The event took place at the Kazi Bashir Uddin Road Jame Mosque in Kalabagan, Dhaka, following Asr prayers on Friday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman participated virtually from London. The ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including BNP Chairperson’s Advisors Aman Ullah Aman, Professor Dr. Farhad Halim Doner, and Ismail Zabihullah, along with BNP International Affairs Secretary Barrister Nasir Uddin Ahmed Asim and Education Affairs Secretary Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam. Leaders from Chhatra Dal, Juba Dal, and Swechhasebak Dal, along with well-wishers of the deceased, were also present.
Special prayers were offered during the milad mahfil for the eternal peace of several prominent figures, including BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, former navy chief Mahbub Ali Khan, and Begum Khaleda Zia’s late son Arafat Rahman Koko. Prayers for the good health and well-being of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, and their families were also included.
Ismail Zabihullah, a long-time friend of Mahmud Ullah, expressed his sorrow in a brief speech, stating, “His death has greatly upset me. Please keep him in your prayers.” The deceased’s sons, Dr. Shah Muhammad Aman Ullah and Engineer Shah Adnan Mahmud, along with other relatives and well-wishers, were present at the event.
