AL Publicity SubCommittee starts polls campaign tomorrow

DHAKA, Awami League Publicity and Publication SubCommittee, on behalf of the party, will formally inaugurate the election campaign for the 11th parliamentary election at the city's Central Shaheed Minar at 11 am tomorrow.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said this while inaugurating the electoral campaign of the Publicity and Publication Subcommittee at AL president's political office in city's Dhanmondi.

Prime Minister's Political Adviser and Election Publicity and Publication Subcommittee Chairman HT Imam presided over the meeting while AL Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud delivered the welcome speech.

Eminent educationalists, artists, actors and sportsmen were also present in the function, among others.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said, The colorful campaign of the party with songs and music will begin from tomorrow. A number of educationalists, actors, actresses, musicians, singers, artists, sports personalities and civil society members who believe in the spirit of the Liberation War will take part in the campaigns.

He said there is not enough time ahead of the election. The successful achievements of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would have to be reached to the door steps of the people in every district, upazila, union, and society within the timeframe, he added.

HT Imam said the election will be held on December 30 and it is another Liberation War. The poll is a big opportunity for the young generation who didn't get scope to join the great War of Liberation in 1971. We will win in the polls as there is no alternative to victory of us, he added.

He said AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has begun formal campaign by visiting the mazar of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj. In line with her programme, we also started our formal electoral campaign in the capital, he added.

Imam said the full campaign will begin from tomorrow where a number of eminent personalities from different professions will take part.

The programmes will begin through national anthem. Later, a documentary on different development activities of the government during the last 10 years will be screened. A video on violent activities of BNPJamaat to foil the trial of war criminals will also be screened in the function.
