DHAKA, Dec 16, 2016 (BSS) - Leaders and workers of Awami League, its associate bodies and other likeminded political and social-cultural organisations today paid their rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
They paid tribute by placing wreath at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city marking the 46th Victory Day.
As part of the day-long programme, Sheikh Hasina paid rich tribute to Father of the Nation at Dhanmondi 32 number as the Prime Minister this morning.
Later, she flanked by senior leaders of the party also placed another wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation as the party chief.
She stood in solemn silence there for sometime as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of country's independence.
After sometime, Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury also placed wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi.
Awami League advisory council member Tofail Ahmed, presidium members - Begum Matia Chowdhury, Advocate Sahara Khatun and Dr Abdur Razzak, party general secretary Obaidul Quader, joint general secretaries - Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif and Dr Dipu Moni, AL organising secretary Khaled Mahmud Chowdhury, office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, among others, were present there.
Besides, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, Land Affairs Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif, Railways Minister Mujibul Hauqe and Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam were also accompanied the AL president.
Besides, leaders and workers of Awami Jubo League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Swechchasebak League, Bangladesh Krishak League, Jatiya Sramik League, Mohila Awami League and some other likeminded organizations placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi marking the 46th Victory Day.
