The holy Akheri Chahar Shamba will be observed across the country on November 30 marking the recovery of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (SM) from prolonged illness.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the national moon-sighting committee at the conference room of the Islamic Foundation, Baitul Mukarram here yesterday evening.
Joint secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs M Hafiz Uddin was in the chair.
As the new moon was not sighted on the sky of the country today, so the holy month of Safar will begin from November 2 and the holy Akheri Chahar Shamba will be observed on 29th of Safar or November 30, said a foundation release.
Principal Information Officer (PIO) AKM Shamim Chowdhury, Joint Secretary of the Information Ministry Mohammad Nurul Islam, Joint Secretary of the Cabinet Division M Saidur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Metrological Department M Abdur Rahman, Chief Scientific Officer of SPARSO M Shah Alam, Principal of Govt Madrasha-e-Alia Professor Sirajuddin Ahmed, Senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Muhammad Mizanur Rahman, among others, were present at the meeting.
