Dhaka: The Council of Advisers today approved in principle the draft of the 'Local Government (City Corporation) (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2025'. The approval was granted during the 36th meeting held at the Chief Adviser's Office, as stated in a Cabinet Division press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus presided over the meeting. The ordinance now awaits the final approval, which is contingent upon the vetting by the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division. The draft represents a step forward in the legislative process as the council moves to implement amendments aimed at enhancing local governance.
