Savar: Industries Advisor Adilur Rahman has announced that more than 3.5 lakh sacrificial animal rawhides have been preserved in the tanneries of BSCIC Industrial City in Savar this year. He shared that an additional 7.50 lakh animal hides are expected to arrive at the tanneries shortly, emphasizing the scale of operations underway.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rahman addressed a meeting with tannery owners at BSCIC Savar, highlighting the government’s efforts to ensure proper storage of rawhides and fair pricing for sellers, as established by government guidelines. The government has supplied about 30 thousand metric tons of salt to facilitate the proper processing of these rawhides.

Rahman remarked on the government’s commitment to the development of the tannery industries, stating that actions will be taken against those responsible for the industry’s current challenges. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has already summoned individuals deemed accountable for these issues.

The advisor also mentioned government initiatives to modernize the tannery’s central waste treatment plant, signaling a move towards improved industry standards. Following the meeting, Rahman conducted an inspection of the rawhide preservation activities at several tanneries, demonstrating his hands-on approach.

Leaders from the tannery association and other organizations related to the leather industry were in attendance, reflecting a collaborative effort to address industry needs.
