Kalapara:Patuakhali A man claiming to be a traditional healer has been arrested in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali on charges of raping a teenage girl under false promises of marriage and blackmailing her with secretly recorded videos.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the accused, Taijul Islam Musa, 40, was apprehended by members of the Special Response Battalion-8 from Chowrasta on Tuesday night and subsequently handed over to the police.

The incident came to light when the girl's stepfather filed a case on August 31 against Musa and ten others at the Kalapara Police Station. Musa allegedly formed a close relationship with the girl while visiting her family's rented home for treatment purposes. He then reportedly raped her, promising marriage, while his associates secretly recorded intimate videos of the two.

Despite the girl's insistence on marriage, Musa allegedly refused and the videos were disseminated to various WhatsApp contacts, including the landlord and the girl's family. On October 15, Musa and his associates reportedly threatened to release the videos on social media if their demand to stop was not met.

Kalapara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Nazrul Islam stated that Musa is set to be presented before the court on Wednesday, and efforts are being made to apprehend the other suspects involved.
