Dhaka:The government has mandated that all officials and employees at the Secretariat must display their identity cards at all times while on the premises, as part of efforts to enhance security measures.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued this directive on Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of visible identity cards to reinforce security, control access, and maintain discipline within the Secretariat. This measure is particularly significant given the presence of various categories of visitors, including those attending meetings and entering through one-time passwords (OTPs).

The ministry highlighted that with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman working daily at the Secretariat, the display of identity cards has become crucial for ensuring internal security. It called on all ministries and divisions to instruct their staff to adhere to the new directive.

This latest instruction follows a previous order from October 27 aimed at tightening visitor entry controls. The previous directive recommended minimizing meetings with external offices on Mondays and Thursdays when visitor entry is suspended and adjusted visitor entry times to begin at 2 pm. General visitors are restricted to one OTP per week, in line with efforts to bolster security and improve monitoring of visitors at the Secretariat.
