Dhaka:The Ministry of Commerce has granted a licence to the Bangladesh Poultry Farmers' Association, aiming to safeguard poultry farmers' interests, secure fair pricing for their products, and enhance farm management practices.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the licence was issued on October 12 under Section 28 of the Companies Act, 1994. It was granted to the association's convener, Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, by the Ministry's Trade Organisation-1 branch.

The association's objectives include organizing poultry farmers through a registration process, informing them about developments in the livestock sector, and available government facilities. It also aims to bolster government revenue by advancing the sector. Initiatives planned include helping farmers acquire quality chicks and feed, providing farm management training, and improving coordination with the Department of Livestock Services (DLS).

Moreover, the association plans to establish veterinary consultation services and pathology labs in every district, funded by its own resources and member contributions. It intends to create a poultry farmers' database and work with the DLS to facilitate government grant distribution.

To prevent financial losses due to poor planning, the organization will offer necessary advice to farmers. It also seeks to motivate educated unemployed youths to establish poultry farms on non-agricultural land, promoting self-employment opportunities. Addressing financial constraints, the association will prioritize securing easy-term loans by coordinating with government financial institutions.

Muhammad Shafiqul Islam highlighted the association's focus on organizing farmers, ensuring fair product prices, and maintaining manageable production costs. He underscored the importance of facilitating loans on favorable terms to support poultry farmers financially.
