Khulna:Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has dismissed five teachers and two employees for disciplinary violations and other irregularities.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the decision was made during KUET's 115th Syndicate meeting held on Wednesday afternoon, as reported by KUET Registrar Engr Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan.
The dismissed individuals include Prof Dr Pintu Chandra Shil of the Computer Science and Engineering department, Prof Dr Subrata Talapatra of the Industrial Engineering and Management department, Assistant Professor Nibir Mondal of the Energy Science and Engineering department, Prof Dr Masrura Mostafa, and Assistant Professor Shahriar Roman, both from the Humanities and Business department. Additionally, the dismissed employees are Deputy Registrar Nimai Chandra Mistry and office assistant Satyajit Kumar Dutta.
The dismissals were a result of investigations into allegations such as violations of university rules, securing jobs with fake experience certificates, and age-related irregularities at the time of appointment. All seven individuals had been suspended for an extended period due to these allegations. Complaints against the employees led to their suspension pending investigations, and explanations were sought from them, with some responding while others did not, ultimately leading to their dismissal by the Syndicate.
