Dhaka:BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi emphasized the universal significance of Gautama Buddha's teachings, stating they contribute to the welfare of all humanity beyond any single religious community.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi expressed that adopting Buddha's teachings can lead to a peaceful, prosperous, and fraternal society. He made these remarks as the chief guest during a discussion on "The Importance of Prabarana in the Light of Human Values," organized by the Bangladesh Buddhist Culture Preaching Association at the Dharmarajik Buddhist Mahavihara in Basabo.
Rizvi highlighted that Prabarana Purnima holds a broad significance beyond a mere religious ceremony or festival. He pointed out that the aspect of mind purification is particularly crucial, as demonstrated by monks' practice of admitting any mistakes after the rains retreat (Vassa), which carries profound humanistic teachings.
He further noted the importance of acknowledging one’s mistakes to foster awareness and avoid repeating them, allowing individuals to correct themselves through reflection and repentance.
State Minister for Railways Habibur Rashid Habib MP inaugurated the event, underscoring Bangladesh's tradition of communal harmony and expressing hopes for continued mutual respect across religious communities. The event was presided over by Srisaddhammasasanadhvaja Buddhapriya Mahathero, with Bijan Kanti Sarkar speaking as the special guest.
