Dhaka:German Vice Minister Dr. Bärbel Kofler is set to arrive in Dhaka tomorrow for a three-day official visit aimed at negotiating future development cooperation between Bangladesh and Germany.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Kofler will lead a delegation from Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The negotiations will focus on enhancing long-term resilience, economic adaptability, and sustainable growth as Bangladesh transitions from its current status as a least developed country (LDC).
Germany, a key development partner of Bangladesh, intends to reinforce its partnership through these discussions. The agenda will extend beyond traditional aid frameworks to address Bangladesh's evolving development requirements in its post-LDC phase.
During her visit, Dr. Kofler will engage in political talks and visit development projects in Chattogram. In addition, she will attend the German Reunification Day celebration at the German Embassy in Dhaka. This event is expected to attract senior government leaders, civil society representatives, diplomats, and cultural and media personalities from both Bangladesh and Germany. The celebration marks the historic reunification of East and West Germany in 1990 after years of division during the Cold War.
The visit by Dr. Kofler highlights Germany's ongoing commitment to supporting Bangladesh's sustainable development, as stated in the press release.
