Dhaka:Acting Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, emphasized the need for collective efforts and a robust awareness campaign to eliminate the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes to curb the spread of dengue.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi made these remarks while distributing leaflets in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area, urging city dwellers to participate in awareness campaigns and cleanliness drives. He called on locals to maintain cleanliness in their homes, drains, and surrounding canals as part of preventive measures against dengue.
Rizvi highlighted the past contributions of BNP leaders, activists, and allied physicians during the coronavirus pandemic under the leadership of their party chief and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He mentioned that the government has made dengue tests free and instructed city corporations to conduct cleanliness drives targeting Aedes mosquito larvae.
The BNP leader also urged party members to partake in these drives and spread medicines to combat dengue. He noted Prime Minister Rahman's commitment to addressing public suffering and providing directives to tackle dengue issues.
Responding to criticisms of government actions by the opposition, Rizvi called for a responsible approach rather than misleading the public. He dismissed claims of favoritism, asserting that both treasury and opposition lawmakers receive allocations evenly. Rizvi concluded by warning against attempts to incite anarchy through misinformation and propaganda.
BNP Joint Secretary General Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, MP, Dhaka Divisional Organising Secretary Kazi Sayedul Alam Babul, Voluntary Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, Health Secretary Prof Dr. Md Rafiqul Islam, and Dhaka South City BNP Convenor Rafiqul Alam Majnu were among those present.
