Gaibandha:The Special Response Battalion (SRB)-13 has apprehended the prime suspect in the Azizul Haque murder case. The arrest took place in the village of Purba Nayanpur under Palashbari police station in Gaibandha on Saturday.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the suspect is identified as Md Jasijal Haque, also known as 'Dipty', a 65-year-old resident of Isabpur village under Sadullapur police station in Gaibandha. The arrest follows a long-standing familial dispute over ancestral land between the accused's family and the victim, Azizul Haque.

The incident occurred on October 14, 2026, when Md Jasijal Haque allegedly struck Azizul Haque on the head with a bamboo stick in their courtyard, intending to kill him. The victim was initially treated at Sadullapur Upazila Health Complex and later referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced care. Unfortunately, Azizul Haque succumbed to his injuries on October 15, 2026.

Azizul Haque's wife, Shapla Khatun, subsequently filed a murder case at the Sadullapur police station. Acting on a tip-off, SRB-13's Gaibandha camp raided Purba Nayanpur village and arrested Md Jasijal Haque at 520 am on Saturday. He has been handed over to the Sadullapur police station for further legal proceedings.
