Dhaka:BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi highlighted the legacy of late former lawmaker and BNP Commerce Affairs Secretary Salah Uddin Ahmed, emphasizing his devotion, unwavering support for the party, and loyalty to its programs.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi shared these remarks during the second namaz-e-janaza for Salah Uddin Ahmed at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan. The first janaza took place at the South Plaza of the National Parliament, attended by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Rizvi claimed that Salah Uddin's death was the result of torture and persecution, noting that he was subjected to brutal treatment during the October 2023 movement. Despite his frequent illnesses in jail, no arrangements were made for his bail or better treatment. Rizvi also praised Salah Uddin's steadfast adherence to his ideals despite suffering.

BNP Joint Secretary General Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel acknowledged Salah Uddin Ahmed's role in strengthening Dhaka Mahanagar BNP through his courage and guidance. He expressed that Salah Uddin's spirit would continue to inspire the party's activities.

At the janaza, Salah Uddin's son, Tanvir Ahmed Robin, sought forgiveness on behalf of his father for any hurt he might have caused. The event was attended by State Minister for Liberation War Ishraque Hossain, DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam, and numerous BNP leaders and activists.

Salah Uddin Ahmed passed away at the age of 80 while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital. He had been dealing with lung problems and other health issues. He served as a lawmaker from Dhaka-4, elected on BNP tickets in 1991 and 2001.
