Dhaka:A court has ordered the imprisonment of two individuals following the conclusion of their remand in a sedition case relating to the attempted defacement of Rabindranath Tagore's graffiti. This incident occurred on a wall outside the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the Segunbagicha area of the capital.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the individuals, identified as Al Nur Mohammad Ayash and Marjia Khandaker Rimi, were presented in court by the police. The police requested that both remain in custody until the investigation is completed. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Riad Hasan approved this request.

The court had previously placed Ayash on a three-day remand and Rimi on a two-day remand starting from October 11. The case documents reveal that on October 10, a group of youths attempted to deface the Tagore graffiti. When police intervened, an altercation ensued, leading to the detention of four individuals at the scene. They were subsequently arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy, promoting enmity between different groups, and hurting religious sentiments.
