Satkhira:Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 500 grams of Indian crystal meth, valued at an estimated Taka 2.5 crore, in an anti-drug operation along the Satkhira border.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was carried out by a special team from Ghona Border Outpost (BOP) on Tuesday night. The team acted on a tip-off about a large consignment of narcotics being smuggled into Bangladesh from India, targeting the border area near Datbhanga Shashanghat in Sadar upazila.

The smugglers fled the scene upon sensing the presence of BGB personnel, abandoning a polythene packet containing the crystal meth. The seized drugs have an estimated market value of Taka 2.5 crore.

Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Ashikur Rahman, commander of the Satkhira 33 BGB Battalion, confirmed the seizure. A general diary was filed with the Department of Narcotics Control in Satkhira, and the narcotics have been deposited at the battalion's seizure store for destruction in public.
