Baku:The Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman, has called on citizens to dedicate time twice a week to clean their homes and surroundings as a measure to prevent the spread of dengue. He emphasized the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding grounds, particularly stagnant water and accumulated waste, as the most effective way to combat the disease.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Prime Minister highlighted that dengue mosquitoes thrive in stagnant water found in homes, along roads, and in public spaces. By clearing these areas, he believes the country can significantly reduce the incidence of dengue.

Tarique Rahman pointed out that people of all ages are affected by dengue, with some cases resulting in death. He stressed that collective efforts are necessary to prevent such tragedies, drawing on the nation's history of overcoming challenges through unity, such as the independence movement in 1971 and other significant uprisings.

The Prime Minister noted that millions of students and members of organizations like the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps, Scouts, Girl Guides, and the Red Crescent are already participating in cleaning efforts. These groups have been working every Saturday for about a month to clear waste across various districts and upazilas.

Rahman urged for a united front in the fight against dengue, expressing that successful governance involves working together with the people to solve national problems. He concluded by encouraging everyone to join in these efforts to save lives from the threat of dengue.
