Dhaka:State Minister for Primary and Mass Education, Bobby Hajjaj, highlighted the importance of developing skilled youth to achieve Bangladesh's goal of doubling its economy by 2034. He emphasized that young people must become skilled, capable, and ready for the international market.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Hajjaj stated that simply obtaining an institutional degree is insufficient. Students must also acquire English communication skills, technological knowledge, and problem-solving abilities applicable to real workplaces.

Hajjaj delivered these remarks as the chief guest at the '2nd ULAB-TESOL Bangladesh International ESP (English for Specific Purposes) Conference 2026' held at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) in Dhaka. The event was jointly organized by TESOL Bangladesh and ULAB.

Addressing the students at the conference, Hajjaj emphasized the necessity of skill development for career success, stating that knowledge must be applicable in real life to meet workplace challenges. He also pointed out the significant challenges in teaching and learning English within Bangladesh's education system.

Drawing from his experiences visiting schools across the country, Hajjaj noted the need for teachers to enhance their English language skills to effectively teach the subject to students.
