Four Arrested in Sitakunda Raid with Weapons Seized

Sitakunda:Police arrested four individuals during a raid in the remote hills of Jangal Salimpur, Sitakunda, where they recovered weapons and mobile phones from the suspects.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the raid was conducted on Thursday evening in the Alinagar Bahadurghona area of Jangal Salimpur. Md. Russell, the Additional Superintendent of Police for Chattogram District, disclosed details of the operation at a press conference held at Sitakunda Police Station.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Morshed (33), Md. Russell (30), Md. Babu (32), and Md. Sabbir (32). They reportedly hail from various regions within the Chattogram and Brahmanbaria districts but were residing in different communities within the "Chhinnamul" settlement area of Jangal Salimpur.

Police sources revealed that one of the suspects, Russell, is involved in three cases related to illegal arms possession. The other three suspects, Morshed, Babu, and Sabbir, each have two robbery cases and one arms-related case against them.

The search conducted based on information from the detainees led to the recovery of a shotgun, a Chinese pistol, nine lead bullets, six cartridges, a spear, four Android mobile phones, a power bank, and a notebook listing potential extortion targets.

Md. Mohinul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Sitakunda Police Station, confirmed that multiple cases have been filed against the four suspects. They were subsequently sent to jail through court proceedings on Friday afternoon.
