Dhaka:The United States has requested Bangladesh's support for its candidacies in upcoming United Nations elections and related bodies. Bangladesh has assured the US that it will give due consideration to these requests.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the discussions took place during a meeting between US Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Eric Geelan and Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shama Obaed. The meeting covered various issues of mutual interest, including human trafficking, energy, education, and training.
The US has also decided to increase its financial support for the Rohingya community, a decision welcomed by State Minister Shama. She also highlighted the success of a recent visit by a high-level Bangladesh delegation to Silicon Valley, which involved meetings with tech giants and startup CEOs.
