Sanaa:Bangabhaban President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on both public and private universities to focus on producing a skilled workforce through higher education to address the country's needs.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the President made this appeal during a meeting with a delegation led by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University. The meeting took place at Bangabhaban, where the President emphasized the importance of universities in developing a workforce that meets national demands.

The President highlighted that despite the emergence of numerous graduates since the country's independence 50 years ago, there is still a reliance on foreign workers for operating strategic installations, ports, specialized institutions, and private companies. He urged universities to increase their role in bridging this gap.

During the meeting, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan informed the President about the university's academic activities. He mentioned that the university has a patent development department that helps researchers secure patent rights and commercialize their innovations. The university is also providing education in employment-oriented fields, contributing to its improved rankings globally.

President Alamgir expressed satisfaction with the university's efforts and stressed the importance of maintaining educational quality. He also accepted an invitation to attend the university's upcoming convocation ceremony. The meeting was attended by the President's Military Secretary, Secretary, Press Secretary, and various officials from the university.
