Keraniganj:Uber initiated a community road safety awareness program in Keraniganj to mark the upcoming National Road Safety Day on October 22. As part of the event, the company distributed safety gear, including helmets, riding gloves, and reflective vests, to its Bike driver partners.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event also marked the start of Uber's 'Ride Safe, Arrive Safe' campaign, which will span from October to December. The initiative emphasizes preventive safety practices and the well-being of driver partners.
Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, MP, highlighted the shared responsibility of road safety, noting that increased awareness among riders is crucial for safer roads. He emphasized the benefits of combining road safety awareness with technology-driven earning opportunities for both riders and communities.
Advocate Nipun Roy Chowdhury, MP, stated that road safety depends on responsible behavior and cooperation among stakeholders. She praised Uber's initiative for promoting safe riding practices and encouraging broader road safety awareness. She also underscored the importance of continued collaboration between public and private entities in enhancing road safety.
SM Jamshed Hasan, Country Head of Uber Bangladesh, reiterated Uber's commitment to safety, emphasizing their collaboration with the government and stakeholders to promote responsible riding. He stressed the role of technology, education, and collaboration in ensuring safer Bike trips and creating earning opportunities for riders.
Uber continues investing in technology and education to ensure safer two-wheeler trips. Features such as Helmet Selfies, rider safety reminders, GPS tracking, and SOS support are part of their efforts to promote responsible riding and provide additional support during trips.
