Rajshahi:Officials from the Rajshahi City Corporation, including Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Divisional Commissioner Yusuf Ali, and Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Foyezul Kabir, inspected the Durga idol immersion ghat today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inspection was part of preparations for the Sharadiya Durga Puja in 2026. The officials reviewed the ghat's readiness, focusing on security, discipline, vehicular movement, and public safety to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration.
Directives were issued to concerned officials to facilitate an uninterrupted immersion process. Administrator Riton expressed that comprehensive support is being provided for the festival, emphasizing unity across religions and castes. He assured that vigilance is maintained to prevent any untoward incidents.
Divisional Commissioner Ali highlighted the priority given to security, stating that maximum measures are in place for a festive and peaceful Puja. RMP Commissioner Kabir reassured that the police are prepared to maintain law and order during the festivities.
The inspection included the presence of SRB-5 Rajshahi Deputy Commander Major Manjurul Kabir Pial, Rajshahi Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Director Manjil Haque, RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, and other officials.
