Finance Minister Stresses Equal Opportunities and Children’s Development

Dhaka:Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has expressed the government's commitment to treating all citizens of Bangladesh equally and ensuring equal opportunities for everyone, irrespective of gender.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the finance minister made these remarks at the closing ceremony of Children's Rights Day-2026, which also marked the 50th anniversary of the Bangladesh Shishu Academy. The event took place at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy in the capital, where he served as the chief guest.

Amir Khosru highlighted the challenging economic situation facing the country, attributing it to the impacts of war and the activities of the previous government. He emphasized the significance of children in shaping a future Bangladesh inclusive of all, stating the necessity of providing children with guidance and support for their future.

He acknowledged the vital role of Bangladesh Shishu Academy in nurturing children's creativity and intellectual development, despite its limitations in reaching every child directly. He urged the academy to continue sending messages on how the children of Bangladesh can build their lives.

Addressing parents, the finance minister underscored the importance of maintaining communication with their children and encouraged them to answer their children's questions to facilitate learning. He advocated for a holistic approach to education that includes academic excellence, sports, drawing, music, and cultural development to ensure a well-rounded foundation for children.

The event also featured Minister for Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain and Selima Rahman, MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, as special guests.
