Dhaka:President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized the essential role of differences of opinion, constructive criticism, and peaceful protests in politics, describing them as the "beauty of democracy."
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the President shared these views during a meeting with a delegation from Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), led by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Enamullah, at Bangabhaban. He noted that the politics of vengeance can impede democratic development.
During the meeting, Prof Dr M Enamullah updated the President on the university's academic activities, mentioning that approximately 15,000 students are currently enrolled. He also highlighted the government's allocation of Tk 600 crore for infrastructural development and sought the President's assistance in addressing issues such as faculty vacancies and accommodation shortages for female students.
The President assured the delegation of his support in resolving these challenges and stressed the importance of maintaining educational quality to boost higher education in the northern region of the country. He also accepted an invitation to attend the university's upcoming convocation ceremony.
Present at the meeting were the President's Military Secretary, Secretary, and Press Secretary, along with HSTU's Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Treasurer, and Registrar.
