Dhaka:A court has imposed a travel ban on Md Anwarul Islam, the former acting chairman of Bangladesh Awami Jubo League, and his wife, Selina Khatun, due to graft allegations.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir issued the order following a request from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC's plea highlighted that an investigation officer had been appointed to examine claims that Md Anwarul Islam accumulated significant illegal wealth through abuse of power. Concerns were raised about a confidential source indicating that Anwarul Islam and Selina Khatun were planning to leave the country.

The plea stressed that their departure could hinder and delay the inquiry, making the travel ban necessary at this time.
