Dhaka:Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council (BHBCUC) has expressed approval for the government's decision to reschedule holidays for the upcoming Durga Puja in 2026, allowing for a three-day holiday from October 20 to 22.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision was confirmed during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The approval of October 22 as a holiday means government employees will benefit from an extended five-day break, including the weekend holidays on October 23 and 24.

The BHBCUC stated that this change satisfies a long-standing request from minority communities within the country.
