Rajshahi:Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the ruling BNP, has initiated a two-member committee to investigate the alleged attack on journalists at Rajshahi University.
According to United News of Bangladesh, JCD central vice-presidents ABM Ejazul Kabir Ruel and Manjurul Alam Riad have been appointed as members of the committee. A press release signed by JCD Office Secretary Jahangir Alam confirmed the committee's formation on Sunday night.
The press release mentioned that the organization received allegations regarding an 'untoward incident' that occurred on campus. The committee has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation and submitting a written report to the central committee within 24 hours.
The committee was formed under the direction of JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir. At least four journalists were seriously injured in the alleged attack by JCD leaders and activists on Sunday night. The injured journalists include Arifuzzaman Korban, Zahidul Islam, Noor Ahsan Mridul, and Mainul Islam Raju.
In addition to the seriously injured, around 10 other journalists and several students were also harmed during the incident. Those injured are currently receiving treatment at the university's medical center.
