Bhairab:State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md Shariful Alam emphasized today that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is committed to supporting the working-class people in the country.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the State Minister made this statement while visiting the homes of families affected by a destructive fire in the Chandiber area of Bhairab upazila. The fire, which occurred on October 2 due to an electric short circuit, caused significant damage to the homes of 13 families.
During his visit around 10:00 am on Monday, Shariful Alam met with the affected residents, including Abul Kalam Mia, and inspected the burnt-out houses. He announced that he had brought assistance from the Ministry of Local Government, acknowledging that while this aid would not fully cover the damages, the government plans to continue providing support in phases.
The State Minister assured the families that he would report the situation to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and arrange for their rehabilitation, potentially through the relief ministry or the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. Each affected family received 30 kg of rice, Taka 36,000 in cash, two bundles of corrugated iron sheets, and food items worth Taka 10,000.
Shariful Alam also encouraged the families to maintain their trust in the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), describing it as a people-centric government. Local BNP leaders and administrative representatives were present during his visit.
