Dhaka:Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni announced today that Bangladesh aims to eliminate juvenile gangs within the next three months.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Moni emphasized that juveniles will be encouraged to abandon criminal activities and will be offered opportunities for education and skills development. He made these remarks during a shadow parliament session titled 'What Needs to Be Done to Prevent Juvenile Gangs,' organized by Debate for Democracy at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation.

Moni stressed the importance of identifying and bringing to justice those who support juvenile gangs. He insisted that a criminal's political identity should not shield them from action, and that wrongdoings and criminal activities will be addressed without bias.

He expressed a desire to see young people engaged in education and the development of skills in modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence and robotics, rather than in criminal activities. Moni further stated that the government should not be blamed broadly for incidents, as it needs the opportunity to act effectively. He pointed out that criminals often change political identities with shifts in political power and efforts are underway to identify such individuals.

Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiran, Chairman of Debate for Democracy, also spoke at the event. Mirpur Cantonment Public School and College won the debating competition, defeating St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, with trophies, crests, and certificates distributed to the participating teams.
